The National Conference on ESD was a mega event as part of the series of initiatives to promote ESD in Pakistan during the UNDESD. The conference was a joint collaboration between UNESCO Islamabad and IUCNP, which was held on March 20-21, 2007, in Karachi. The purpose was to discuss and establish ESD links with key sectors, including formal education, civil society, media, Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and business. The conference provided a platform for more than 150 stakeholders in the environment and education sectors to interact and work together for a sustainable future. Two immediate outcomes of the conference were: launching of Azsarenau Sochiyay Inkar Kijyay Kum Kijyay, Urdu, translation and adaptation of Rethink, Refuse, Reduce, a training manual on ESD and formation of the National Forum on ESD. |
